smsmith70 DRAFTING FOR THECommanders
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Commanders a B. Nobody else had Collin Oliver anywhere near the 245th overall pick. The Commanders did, by 45 spots, and that gap is the whole story. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Bowman Jr.. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick29
Rnd1
Will Johnson
A tidy bit of business in slot 29, where Will Johnson graded well above the range. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick61
Rnd2
Kaleb Johnson
Value with a capital V on Kaleb Johnson in No. 61, a genuine coup. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick128
Rnd4
Billy Bowman Jr.
Nice patience on Billy Bowman Jr., who had no business lasting to pick 128. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick205
Rnd6
Fadil Diggs
They reached into another round for Fadil Diggs, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick245
Rnd7
Collin Oliver
Collin Oliver at Round 7, Pick 29 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
