Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA FutureB-
The Commanders did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B+.

They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Jalen Travis, 45 picks early at the 238th overall pick. The bottom line is a respectable B+.

On value alone, Riley makes the weekend a net positive. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up.

Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Mykel Williams
In pick No. 31 they get a double-digit-sack hope, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick61 Rnd2 Donovan Jackson
A wild overpay on Donovan Jackson in pick 61, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick79 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
Steal is underselling it; TreVeyon Henderson at slot 79 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick95 Rnd3 Jayden Higgins
Taking Jayden Higgins in the Round 3 slot is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick132 Rnd4 O'Donnell Fortune
O'Donnell Fortune is a better player than No. 132 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick207 Rnd6 Quincy Riley
The board fumbled Quincy Riley all the way to Round 6, Pick 29, and they scooped it up. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick238 Rnd7 Jalen Travis
Jalen Travis in pick 238 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick250 Rnd7 Jamon Dumas-Johnson
You do not let a linebacker like Jamon Dumas-Johnson reach Round 7, Pick 32 and blink. They did not. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick256 Rnd7 Trevor Etienne
Trevor Etienne at the 256th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It fills a real need, too.
