FutureA
The Titans let Trapilo fall and pounced. Final grade: B. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Titans were there to profit. Ozzy Trapilo, the No. 92 name on the board, should have been long gone before Round 4, Pick 18. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
They will need Dart to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain.
On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with offensive lineman the one that mattered most.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick Analysis
Pick3
Rnd1
James Pearce Jr.
They paid sticker price for James Pearce Jr. in pick No. 3, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick34
Rnd2
Jaxson Dart
Jaxson Dart in the 34th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick35
Rnd2
Benjamin Morrison
A reach on Benjamin Morrison in Round 2, Pick 3; the board had better options right there. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick102
Rnd4
Donovan Jackson
A quiet steal in the Round 4 slot: Donovan Jackson for less than the market said. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick104
Rnd4
Savion Williams
Savion Williams in the 104th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. It fills a real need, too.
Pick119
Rnd4
Ozzy Trapilo
You do not let an offensive lineman like Ozzy Trapilo reach slot 119 and blink. They did not. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick142
Rnd5
O'Donnell Fortune
Nice patience on O'Donnell Fortune, who had no business lasting to No. 142. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick168
Rnd5
JJ Pegues
JJ Pegues at pick 168 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
