The rest of the league had time to spare on Joshua Gray; the Saints did not wait, grabbing him 23 spots ahead at No. 176.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up. That is a quarterback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
