Milton III should have been long gone. The Saints pounced, and earned a B.

This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Joe Milton III, the No. 164 name on the board, stolen at the 200th pick. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They will need Cohen to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Malik Nabers
In the Round 1 slot they get a home-run threat at receiver at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick45 Rnd2 Dallas Turner
Dallas Turner in the 45th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick136 Rnd4 Javion Cohen
They paid a round early for Javion Cohen in pick 136, more than the board wanted. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick152 Rnd5 LaDarius Henderson
LaDarius Henderson in Round 5, Pick 16 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick170 Rnd5 Ty'Ron Hopper
A tidy bit of business in slot 170, where Ty'Ron Hopper graded well above the range. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick176 Rnd6 Justin Rogers
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Justin Rogers in pick No. 176. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick192 Rnd6 Christian Jones
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Christian Jones. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick200 Rnd6 Joe Milton III
Circle this one: Joe Milton III at No. 200 is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
