The Sam Hartman selection is the head-turner. The Saints reached 53 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. No fireworks, but a solid B.

That is an offensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Brock Bowers is a better player than the 14th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It fills a real need, too.

They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Darius Robinson in the 45th overall pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
