Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Saints spent the Round 6 slot on Ja'Had Carter, a name the board had a full 37 spots lower. No fireworks, but a solid B-.

That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. That is an edge rusher worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

A reasonable price with a little left over, Adonai Mitchell in the 45th pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.

By-the-book stuff, Nelson Ceaser at pick 136 squarely in line with his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.

Cedric Johnson at No. 152 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.

Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Keith Randolph Jr. at Round 5, Pick 34 is the proof. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
