Grand theft in the 163rd overall pick: the Steelers steal Gabriel and grade out a B-.

Call it larceny. Dillon Gabriel sat on the board until Round 5, Pick 24, and the Steelers did not need to be asked twice.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. Lindenberg has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Emeka Egbuka
In the Round 1 slot they get a difference-maker at receiver at fair value.
Pick52 Rnd2 TreVeyon Henderson
No edge and no loss on TreVeyon Henderson in pick No. 52; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick83 Rnd3 Darien Porter
Darien Porter at slot 83 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It fills a real need, too.
Pick122 Rnd4 Kevin Winston Jr.
Kevin Winston Jr. at pick 122 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick163 Rnd5 Dillon Gabriel
Circle this one: Dillon Gabriel at No. 163 is a fall that decides a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick225 Rnd7 Jacob Parrish
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jacob Parrish in the 225th pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick231 Rnd7 Cody Lindenberg
Cody Lindenberg in the 231st overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick247 Rnd7 Logan Parr
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Logan Parr. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
