Draft Grade — Browns
Overall D
ValueB+ NeedB+ TradesF FutureB-
The Browns robbed the room for Ali. Final grade: D.

Somebody took the Browns to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it.

That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. That Ali pick is the receipt they will wave around later.

Justin Fields gives the group a proven body among the projects. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and quarterback is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Laiatu Latu
In the Round 1 slot they get a premier pass rusher. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick55 Rnd2 Xavier Legette
Circle this one: Xavier Legette at Round 2, Pick 23 is a fall that decides a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick86 Rnd3 Kingsley Suamataia
The board fumbled Kingsley Suamataia all the way to the 86th pick, and they scooped it up. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick138 Rnd5 Leonard Taylor III
Somehow Leonard Taylor III was still sitting there in slot 138, and they pounced on premier interior defensive lineman value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick159 Rnd5 Kamal Hadden
They will replay Kamal Hadden at No. 159 for years; that is how good the value is. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick205 Rnd6 Aki Ogunbiyi
A quiet steal in pick 205: Aki Ogunbiyi for less than the market said. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick210 Rnd6 JD Bertrand
The board had JD Bertrand higher than pick 210, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick231 Rnd7 Rasheen Ali
They barely believed it either: Rasheen Ali still on the board at No. 231. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
