Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall B
ValueB- NeedA- TradesB- FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Jaguars and Wilson: B.

The Jaguars did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Jared Wilson fell into Round 5, Pick 4. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

Every board in the league had James lower, and that gap is the story. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 7 of 9 of the wish list covered.

Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick5 Rnd1 Mason Graham
In pick No. 5 they get an anchor for the defensive front. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick36 Rnd2 Trey Amos
They went early on Trey Amos in Round 2, Pick 4, and the value did not follow. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick70 Rnd3 Jayden Higgins
No edge and no loss on Jayden Higgins in the 70th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick88 Rnd3 Cameron Williams
They will replay Cameron Williams at slot 88 for years; that is how good the value is. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick107 Rnd4 Jordan James
A premium they did not need to pay, Jordan James a notch or two before his time. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick126 Rnd4 Jake Majors
Jake Majors at the 126th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick142 Rnd5 Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson in the Round 5 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick182 Rnd6 Vernon Broughton
No drama and no debate, Vernon Broughton went about where he belonged in pick 182. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick194 Rnd6 Jaylen Reed
Jaylen Reed in Round 6, Pick 18 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick221 Rnd7 Shemar James
Shemar James at the Round 7 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A need, and now a little less of one.
