Draft Grade — Falcons
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Falcons checked most of the boxes and earned a B-.

For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Falcons walked out of the weekend still thin at quarterback, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.

If one pick saves this weekend, it is Bowen. The cost of the Wilson III reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick45 Rnd2 Eugene Wilson III
A reach for Eugene Wilson III in the 45th pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick77 Rnd3 Drayk Bowen
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Drayk Bowen at the Round 3 slot. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick113 Rnd4 Monroe Freeling
The board had Monroe Freeling higher than pick No. 113, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick152 Rnd5 Jermaine Mathews Jr.
Jermaine Mathews Jr. in pick 152 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick226 Rnd7 Jalen Catalon
Jalen Catalon at the 226th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
