Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall A-
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureA-
The Patriots drew a line under the quarterback search with Daniels: A-.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Patriots spent their marquee pick on Jayden Daniels, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.

The phones were where this weekend was really won. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.

The Patriots clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before. Smith-Wade falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

A strong weekend's work, and a rare one to find this little fault with.

Pick Analysis
Pick8 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
Jayden Daniels in No. 8 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick33 Rnd2 Adonai Mitchell
They took Adonai Mitchell at par in slot 33, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick34 Rnd2 Ja'Tavion Sanders
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Ja'Tavion Sanders. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick68 Rnd3 Kiran Amegadjie
Kiran Amegadjie at the 68th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Pick71 Rnd3 Bralen Trice
They read the board right and Bralen Trice was the payoff at the Round 3 slot. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick103 Rnd4 Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson at pick No. 103 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick137 Rnd5 Chau Smith-Wade
Chau Smith-Wade in pick 137 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick162 Rnd5 Jaheim Bell
By-the-book stuff, Jaheim Bell at Round 5, Pick 26 squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
