Draft Grade — Giants
Overall

FutureA+
About as clean as a draft gets for the Giants: A-. Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Jimmy Horn Jr. at Round 7, Pick 3 is 130 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. The sum of the weekend is a deserved A-.
That Henderson pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. With interior defensive lineman, offensive lineman and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on linebacker is the choice that costs them.
Trevon Diggs gives the group a proven body among the projects.
Bottom line, with Jahdae Barron leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Jahdae Barron
In the 12th overall pick they get a ballhawk on the outside at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34
Rnd2
Tyler Warren
They robbed the room for Tyler Warren here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick44
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
Taking Nick Emmanwori in pick No. 44 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick65
Rnd3
Jalon Walker
Jalon Walker in the Round 3 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick104
Rnd4
Demetrius Knight Jr.
A curious use of the 104th pick. Interior defensive lineman, offensive lineman and other spots needed the pick; a linebacker in Demetrius Knight Jr. did not.
Pick134
Rnd4
TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson at No. 134 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It fills a real need, too.
Pick135
Rnd4
Quinshon Judkins
Quinshon Judkins in slot 135 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The roster fit checks out.
Pick155
Rnd5
Smael Mondon Jr.
They will replay Smael Mondon Jr. at pick 155 for years; that is how good the value is. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick221
Rnd7
Jimmy Horn Jr.
Jimmy Horn Jr. at Round 7, Pick 3 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick248
Rnd7
Will Sheppard
This one needs a full-page explanation: Will Sheppard in pick No. 248, miles early. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
