Draft Grade — Raiders

FutureC-
Flashes of a plan, unevenly executed. Raiders: C+. The Raiders clearly saw something nobody else did in Nick Martin, taking him 45 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Riley. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
So much rides on Tetairoa McMillan that the real verdict is a season or two away.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Tetairoa McMillan
In Round 1, Pick 14 they get a true top target. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick21
Rnd1
Emeka Egbuka
Emeka Egbuka at the Round 1 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick45
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori in pick No. 45 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick49
Rnd2
Jihaad Campbell
Jihaad Campbell at slot 49 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick68
Rnd3
TreVeyon Henderson
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing TreVeyon Henderson in the 68th pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick73
Rnd3
Alfred Collins
The board had Alfred Collins higher than the 73rd overall pick, and the interior defensive lineman fell to them anyway. It fills a real need, too.
Pick81
Rnd3
Jalen Milroe
A reach on Jalen Milroe in Round 3, Pick 17; the board had better options right there. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick107
Rnd4
Donovan Jackson
Steal is underselling it; Donovan Jackson at the 107th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick116
Rnd4
Devin Neal
Devin Neal at pick 116 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick144
Rnd5
Brashard Smith
The board fumbled Brashard Smith all the way to pick No. 144, and they scooped it up. The roster fit checks out.
Pick182
Rnd6
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 6 slot with a little surplus value in Dont'e Thornton Jr.. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick195
Rnd6
Ajani Cornelius
Ajani Cornelius at the 195th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick214
Rnd6
Quincy Riley
Quincy Riley in slot 214 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick218
Rnd6
Nick Martin
Value said wait; Nick Martin in No. 218 says they were not listening. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
