Draft Grade — Rams

FutureB-
The Rams robbed the room for Anthony. Final grade: B+. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Rams were there to profit. Daijahn Anthony, the No. 193 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 230th overall pick.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. The Hartman pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick19
Rnd1
Nate Wiggins
In No. 19 they get a lockdown presence outside. Need was not the driver here.
Pick83
Rnd3
Christian Mahogany
Christian Mahogany in Round 3, Pick 19 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick100
Rnd3
Tykee Smith
Tykee Smith at slot 100 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick153
Rnd5
Theo Johnson
Theo Johnson at the 153rd pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick177
Rnd6
Cody Schrader
Nothing to complain about; Cody Schrader went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick191
Rnd6
Javon Baker
Javon Baker in pick No. 191 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick217
Rnd6
Sam Hartman
They liked Sam Hartman enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 217. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick218
Rnd6
Omar Speights
Omar Speights in the 218th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick230
Rnd7
Daijahn Anthony
You do not let a cornerback like Daijahn Anthony reach pick 230 and blink. They did not. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
