FutureB-
The Lions lost the trade table, and the D- tells the story. It is the swing that defines the weekend: De'Zhaun Stribling in the 230th pick, a good 124 spots before the room expected him.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Allar. For all the activity, offensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, offensive lineman very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Princely Umanmielen
In pick 28 they get a bendy edge with upside, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick60
Rnd2
Ollie Gordon II
Ollie Gordon II at No. 60 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It fills a real need, too.
Pick118
Rnd4
Drew Allar
They barely believed it either: Drew Allar still on the board at slot 118. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick165
Rnd5
Mansoor Delane
Taking Mansoor Delane in the 165th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick198
Rnd6
Nick Martin
Nick Martin at pick No. 198 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick230
Rnd7
De'Zhaun Stribling
A wild overpay on De'Zhaun Stribling in the 230th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The roster fit checks out.
Pick242
Rnd7
Kyren Lacy
Kyren Lacy at No. 242 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
