Draft Grade — Saints
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesB FutureB-
Daniels is the Saints' new face under center. Grade: B.

The Saints spent the pick that matters most on Jayden Daniels, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape.

The Harris Jr. pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The Rosemy-Jacksaint pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.

The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
In Round 1, Pick 14 they get their quarterback of the future. A real need, handled.
Pick55 Rnd2 Xavier Legette
You do not let a wide receiver like Xavier Legette reach the 55th overall pick and blink. They did not. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick86 Rnd3 Junior Colson
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 86, where Junior Colson graded well above the range. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick136 Rnd4 Sataoa Laumea
Sataoa Laumea at No. 136 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick152 Rnd5 Cam Hart
Somehow Cam Hart was still sitting there in the 152nd pick, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick164 Rnd5 McCallan Castles
Quietly one of the better values of the day, McCallan Castles at pick 164. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick170 Rnd5 Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint
They barely believed it either: Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint still on the board at slot 170. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick176 Rnd6 LaDarius Henderson
The board had LaDarius Henderson higher than the Round 6 slot, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick199 Rnd6 Donell Harris Jr.
A wild overpay on Donell Harris Jr. in pick 199, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick205 Rnd6 JD Bertrand
Nice patience on JD Bertrand, who had no business lasting to No. 205. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
