Draft Grade — Giants
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedB+

FutureA+
No fireworks, just a tidy B for the Giants. You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Giants did exactly that with Hayden Conner in the Round 5 slot.
They banked enough surplus on Fitzgerald to cover a lot of smaller sins. For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain.
They were the ones paying the moving tax this weekend. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Mason Graham
Mason Graham at pick 14 is money in the bank, a interior defensive lineman taken below his worth. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick34
Rnd2
Ashton Gillotte
A real head-scratcher, Ashton Gillotte in the 34th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
Pick45
Rnd2
Malaki Starks
Malaki Starks at No. 45 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick65
Rnd3
Jihaad Campbell
Jihaad Campbell in the Round 3 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick80
Rnd3
TreVeyon Henderson
They robbed the room for TreVeyon Henderson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick118
Rnd4
Hollin Pierce
They took Hollin Pierce at par in Round 4, Pick 17, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick134
Rnd4
Logan Brown
Logan Brown at No. 134 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick155
Rnd5
Hayden Conner
Hayden Conner in pick No. 155 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick164
Rnd5
Ryan Fitzgerald
A top-tier specialist at a bargain, Ryan Fitzgerald in the 164th overall pick, plain and simple. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick195
Rnd6
Tyler Shough
The board fumbled Tyler Shough all the way to the Round 6 slot, and they scooped it up. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick221
Rnd7
Cobee Bryant
Steal is underselling it; Cobee Bryant at pick 221 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick248
Rnd7
LaJohntay Wester
LaJohntay Wester is a better player than slot 248 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
