The Bills let Walker fall into their laps, and walked away with a A-. The Bills did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Devontez Walker fell into No. 128.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through linebacker. The Khalil Mack pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with interior defensive lineman chief among the fixes.
Few war rooms will sleep better than this one tonight.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Byron Murphy II
In Round 1, Pick 28 they get an anchor for the defensive front at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick60
Rnd2
Darius Robinson
Darius Robinson in pick 60 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick128
Rnd4
Devontez Walker
Taking Devontez Walker in slot 128 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick204
Rnd6
Beau Brade
Beau Brade at pick No. 204 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It fills a real need, too.
Pick216
Rnd6
Jalen Coker
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 6 slot with a little surplus value in Jalen Coker. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick248
Rnd7
Jordan Whittington
They let Jordan Whittington come to them and pounced at No. 248. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
