FutureB-
The Bears fleeced the room on the phones and earned a B+. The Bears ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B+.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Allen at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The Christian Darrisaw pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
They are betting Bullock proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
Marvin Harrison Jr.
In pick No. 9 they get a true top target, outstanding value to boot.
Pick11
Rnd1
Jer'Zhan Newton
In the Round 1 slot they get a run-stuffing presence up front at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick75
Rnd3
Calen Bullock
They paid up for Calen Bullock at slot 75 when waiting would have done the job. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick122
Rnd4
Braelon Allen
The board had Braelon Allen higher than No. 122, and the running back fell to them anyway. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
