Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Mendoza is the Raiders' new face under center. Grade: B-.

Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Raiders spent the Round 7 slot on Roman Hemby, a name the board had a full 62 spots lower. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

Fernando Mendoza is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain. On value alone, Mathews Jr. makes the weekend a net positive.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Fernando Mendoza
In Round 1, Pick 1 they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick36 Rnd2 Elijah Sarratt
By-the-book stuff, Elijah Sarratt at the Round 2 slot squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick67 Rnd3 Deontae Lawson
A reasonable price with a little left over, Deontae Lawson in No. 67. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick102 Rnd4 Genesis Smith
A tidy bit of business in slot 102, where Genesis Smith graded well above the range. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick117 Rnd4 Domani Jackson
Good price on Domani Jackson in pick 117, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick135 Rnd4 Kage Casey
They paid up for Kage Casey at the 135th pick when waiting would have done the job. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick176 Rnd5 Jermaine Mathews Jr.
Jermaine Mathews Jr. is a better player than slot 176 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick181 Rnd6 Gracen Halton
They paid sticker price for Gracen Halton in the Round 6 slot, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick188 Rnd6 Kalil Alexander
A big swing on Kalil Alexander at the 188th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick219 Rnd7 Roman Hemby
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Roman Hemby. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
