FutureB
The 49ers won the night they stopped Kite from sliding. Grade: B+. The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The 49ers watched Antonio Kite slide 25 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.
A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want. They are betting Proctor proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Rasheed Walker gives the group a proven body among the projects.
They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick Analysis
Pick52
Rnd2
Dillon Thieneman
They robbed the room for Dillon Thieneman here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick58
Rnd2
Josiah Trotter
Josiah Trotter in Round 2, Pick 26 is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick92
Rnd3
Skyler Bell
A tidy little value on Skyler Bell in the 92nd pick, a step better than break-even. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick94
Rnd3
Drew Shelton
Fair-plus on Drew Shelton, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick120
Rnd4
Bryce Lance
No drama and no debate, Bryce Lance went about where he belonged in the Round 4 slot. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick127
Rnd4
Logan Jones
A straight-up fair deal on Logan Jones at pick 127, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick133
Rnd4
Ar'maj Reed-Adams
No edge and no loss on Ar'maj Reed-Adams in No. 133; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick138
Rnd4
Gracen Halton
They took Gracen Halton at par in the 138th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick158
Rnd5
Kaleb Proctor
Kaleb Proctor at the Round 5 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick171
Rnd5
Zane Durant
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Zane Durant. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick236
Rnd7
Aiden Fisher
A reasonable price with a little left over, Aiden Fisher in the 236th pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick254
Rnd7
Antonio Kite
Antonio Kite in slot 254 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
