Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesA- FutureB
Nothing loud, just a tidy B for the 49ers.

The rest of the league had time to spare on Zane Durant; the 49ers did not wait, grabbing him 38 spots ahead at the Round 4 slot. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

The Allen value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Zion Young
In the 30th overall pick they get a double-digit-sack hope, reach and all. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick58 Rnd2 CJ Allen
CJ Allen in Round 2, Pick 26 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick92 Rnd3 Connor Lew
Connor Lew in No. 92 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick108 Rnd4 Jack Endries
Good price on Jack Endries in slot 108, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick127 Rnd4 J.C. Davis
They did well to land J.C. Davis in the 127th pick, just ahead of his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick133 Rnd4 Nadame Tucker
Nadame Tucker at pick 133 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick138 Rnd4 Zane Durant
Zane Durant at slot 138 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick171 Rnd5 Reggie Virgil
Reggie Virgil slid further than he should have, and pick 171 is lovely value for the wide receiver. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
