Thirty-one other rooms let Malachi Fields slide, and the 49ers were the ones holding the card at the Round 3 slot. Highway robbery. The bottom line is a respectable B-.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with offensive lineman the one that mattered most.

The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
