Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Cam Ward got past him. The 49ers do not have to explain a thing at No. 255.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.

Job largely done: offensive lineman settled and 8 of 8 of the wish list covered. They trusted the board more than the depth chart.

In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.
