Smith should have been long gone. The 49ers pounced, and earned a B.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The 49ers watched Brashard Smith slide 85 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

They will need Mesidor to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast.

The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

In the Round 1 slot they get a plug-and-play piece up front, though they paid up to get him. The biggest hole, addressed.
