The 49ers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Brashard Smith fell into No. 226.

If Griffith pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

Adding Caelen Carson by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
