The tape said wait; the 49ers did not. Phillip Webb went at the 249th overall pick, a good 89 picks before the board was ready. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D- is the result.

Shedeur Sanders gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. That is a running back worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want.

The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
