The 49ers bled value on every deal, hence the D.

The 49ers put a flag in the ground for Thor Griffith, 39 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.

That Williams pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Offensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
