Draft Grade — Browns
Overall D
ValueB+ NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Browns won the night they stopped Fisher from sliding. Grade: D.

The trade table was where it all came apart. The Browns shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill.

A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. They banked enough surplus on Fisher to cover a lot of smaller sins. Adding Justin Fields by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.

On the needs board they went 7 of 9, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.

Pick Analysis
Pick55 Rnd2 Bralen Trice
Steal is underselling it; Bralen Trice at the Round 2 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick75 Rnd3 Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. is a better player than the 75th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick94 Rnd3 Malachi Corley
They let Malachi Corley come to them and pounced at the 94th overall pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick110 Rnd4 Braden Fiske
A top-tier interior defensive lineman at a bargain, Braden Fiske in Round 4, Pick 10, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick131 Rnd4 Blake Fisher
Circle this one: Blake Fisher at pick 131 is a fall that decides a draft. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick138 Rnd5 Johnny Dixon
A quiet steal in pick No. 138: Johnny Dixon for less than the market said. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick167 Rnd5 Jaylen Wright
They read the board right and Jaylen Wright was the payoff at the Round 5 slot. It fills a real need, too.
Pick205 Rnd6 Aki Ogunbiyi
Nice patience on Aki Ogunbiyi, who had no business lasting to Round 6, Pick 30. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick210 Rnd6 Isaiah Williams
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Isaiah Williams at pick 210. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick231 Rnd7 Jordan Magee
Jordan Magee at No. 231 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick251 Rnd7 Jontrey Hunter
You do not let a safety like Jontrey Hunter reach pick No. 251 and blink. They did not. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
