FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Lions for Majors: B. Somebody in the 131st pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Lions sat still while Jake Majors, the No. 65 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
They are betting Slackman proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The linebacker hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
James Pearce Jr.
In the 31st pick they get a bendy edge with upside, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick64
Rnd2
DJ Campbell
They will replay DJ Campbell at the 64th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick131
Rnd4
Jake Majors
You do not let an offensive lineman like Jake Majors reach the Round 4 slot and blink. They did not. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick132
Rnd4
Jalen Royals
A wide receiver of that caliber at slot 132 is the definition of value, full stop. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick188
Rnd6
Maxwell Hairston
A premium they did not need to pay, Maxwell Hairston a notch or two before his time. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick226
Rnd7
Luke Lachey
Luke Lachey at pick No. 226 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick246
Rnd7
Aubrey Burks
Aubrey Burks slid further than he should have, and No. 246 is lovely value for the safety. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick254
Rnd7
Joey Slackman
Joey Slackman at pick 254 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
