Renato10 DRAFTING FOR THE49ers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the 49ers: B-. The 49ers went off the board in a big way for Jake Briningstool, 32 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer. However the rest shakes out, Green at that price is a win they earned.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Armand Membou
By-the-book stuff, Armand Membou at Round 1, Pick 11 squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick43
Rnd2
Mike Green
Mike Green slid further than he should have, and No. 43 is lovely value for the edge rusher. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick75
Rnd3
Shemar Turner
The board had cheaper options than Shemar Turner at the 75th overall pick, and it noticed. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick100
Rnd3
Zy Alexander
Zy Alexander at the 100th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick113
Rnd4
Jared Wilson
A tidy bit of business in pick 113, where Jared Wilson graded well above the range. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick138
Rnd4
Jake Briningstool
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jake Briningstool well ahead of where he belonged. It fills a real need, too.
Pick147
Rnd5
Kaimon Rucker
A straight-up fair deal on Kaimon Rucker at slot 147, value and slot in agreement. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick160
Rnd5
JJ Pegues
JJ Pegues at No. 160 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick227
Rnd7
Isaac TeSlaa
Isaac TeSlaa in the Round 7 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick249
Rnd7
Shemar James
A tidy little value on Shemar James in the 249th overall pick, a step better than break-even. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick252
Rnd7
Logan Parr
Logan Parr at the 252nd pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
