Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Browns robbed the room for Stockton. Final grade: B-.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Browns were there to profit. Gunner Stockton, the No. 179 name on the board, should have been long gone before slot 206. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Job largely done: quarterback settled and 5 of 9 of the wish list covered.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Caleb Downs
In the Round 1 slot they get a downhill hitter at safety at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick28 Rnd1 Chris Brazzell II
In pick No. 28 they get a difference-maker at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick39 Rnd2 Emmanuel Pregnon
Emmanuel Pregnon in slot 39 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick70 Rnd3 Connor Lew
Connor Lew in Round 3, Pick 6 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick107 Rnd4 Xavier Chaplin
Xavier Chaplin at No. 107 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick139 Rnd5 Blake Miller
A clean, defensible pick in the 139th overall pick with a little surplus value in Blake Miller. The roster fit checks out.
Pick144 Rnd5 Michael Trigg
Nothing to complain about; Michael Trigg went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick147 Rnd5 Niki Prongos
They did well to land Niki Prongos in the 147th pick, just ahead of his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick206 Rnd6 Gunner Stockton
Gunner Stockton at the 206th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick248 Rnd7 Malik Hartford
A quiet steal in pick 248: Malik Hartford for less than the market said. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
