Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
The 49ers fleeced the room on the phones and earned a B+.

The 49ers spent real capital to be 34 picks early on Jack Kiser, and the board is going to hold them to it.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. The Walker value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

Adding DaRon Bland by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Walter Nolen
In No. 25 they get a disruptive interior force. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick43 Rnd2 Jalon Walker
A linebacker of that caliber at the 43rd overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick58 Rnd2 Aireontae Ersery
Aireontae Ersery at the Round 2 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick75 Rnd3 Isaiah Bond
A straight-up fair deal on Isaiah Bond at pick No. 75, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick100 Rnd3 Zy Alexander
Good price on Zy Alexander in Round 3, Pick 36, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick113 Rnd4 Jake Majors
Jake Majors in the 113th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick138 Rnd4 Malachi Moore
Malachi Moore at pick 138 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick147 Rnd5 Jack Kiser
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jack Kiser well ahead of where he belonged. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick160 Rnd5 Jaydon Blue
Jaydon Blue in the 160th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick227 Rnd7 Teddye Buchanan
They left a pile of value on the table to take Teddye Buchanan this early at Round 7, Pick 11. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick249 Rnd7 Thomas Fidone II
By-the-book stuff, Thomas Fidone II at the Round 7 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick252 Rnd7 Bru McCoy
The board had cheaper options than Bru McCoy at slot 252, and it noticed. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
