Good, not great, for the Seahawks: B-. You can draft well and still miss the point. The Seahawks did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to wide receiver, which was the need that mattered most.
If Travis pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick39
Rnd2
Kris Jenkins
No edge and no loss on Kris Jenkins in the 39th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick47
Rnd2
Junior Colson
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Junior Colson. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick78
Rnd3
Jaden Hicks
A clean, defensible pick in slot 78 with a little surplus value in Jaden Hicks. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick90
Rnd3
Dominick Puni
By-the-book stuff, Dominick Puni at Round 3, Pick 27 squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick119
Rnd4
Christian Jones
Christian Jones at pick 119 is a conviction pick that outran the value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick137
Rnd5
Jordan Travis
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jordan Travis. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick151
Rnd5
AJ Barner
They went early on AJ Barner in the 151st overall pick, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick194
Rnd6
Drake Nugent
They liked Drake Nugent enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 194. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick233
Rnd7
Logan Lee
Logan Lee at Round 7, Pick 13 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
