Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Seahawks a B-.

Of all the ways to open, the Seahawks chose the head-scratcher, spending pick No. 90 on Maason Smith with wide receiver, running back and other spots still wide open.

A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. They are betting Travis proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Jackson Powers-Johnson
In the Round 1 slot they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick58 Rnd2 Junior Colson
Junior Colson is a better player than the 58th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick78 Rnd3 Jaden Hicks
Nothing to complain about; Jaden Hicks went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick90 Rnd3 Maason Smith
Of all the spots to shop, they chose DT-EDGE. Maason Smith in No. 90 leaves wide receiver, running back and other spots for later.
Pick119 Rnd4 Christian Jones
Christian Jones at the 119th pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick137 Rnd5 Jordan Travis
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jordan Travis in pick 137, miles early. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick151 Rnd5 AJ Barner
The board had cheaper options than AJ Barner at slot 151, and it noticed. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick194 Rnd6 Keith Randolph Jr.
They paid a round early for Keith Randolph Jr. in Round 6, Pick 19, more than the board wanted. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick233 Rnd7 LaDarius Henderson
LaDarius Henderson at pick No. 233 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
