Seatown^Raptorz^ DRAFTING FOR THESeahawks
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
B-
ValueC+
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Seahawks a B-. The Seahawks bet big and early on Hayden Conner, 79 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Landing Campbell that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Armand Membou
In slot 18 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick50
Rnd2
Jihaad Campbell
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jihaad Campbell at the 50th pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick52
Rnd2
Xavier Watts
A quiet steal in Round 2, Pick 20: Xavier Watts for less than the market said. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick82
Rnd3
Gunnar Helm
No edge and no loss on Gunnar Helm in No. 82; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick92
Rnd3
Hollin Pierce
Hollin Pierce at the Round 3 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick137
Rnd4
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Dont'e Thornton Jr. in pick No. 137, miles early. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick172
Rnd5
Nazir Stackhouse
Nazir Stackhouse at No. 172 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick175
Rnd5
Hayden Conner
A big swing on Hayden Conner at slot 175, well ahead of any board in the building. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick223
Rnd7
Garrett Dellinger
Garrett Dellinger in Round 7, Pick 7 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick234
Rnd7
Brady Cook
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Brady Cook well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
