SEAmenow79! DRAFTING FOR THESeahawks
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
B
ValueA+
NeedB-
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Seahawks won the night they stopped Amos from sliding. Grade: B. Thirty-one other rooms let Trey Amos slide, and the Seahawks were the ones holding the card at the 234th overall pick. Highway robbery. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
With edge rusher, linebacker and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on cornerback is the choice that costs them. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Travis Hunter
In Round 1, Pick 18 they get an island corner, and a steal at that. More want than need.
Pick50
Rnd2
Tyler Warren
You do not let a tight end like Tyler Warren reach the 50th overall pick and blink. They did not. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick52
Rnd2
Ashton Jeanty
Ashton Jeanty at the 52nd pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick82
Rnd3
Cam Ward
Circle this one: Cam Ward at slot 82 is a fall that decides a draft. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick92
Rnd3
Armand Membou
Armand Membou at the Round 3 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick137
Rnd4
Jahdae Barron
A want over a need in pick No. 137: Jahdae Barron adds a cornerback while edge rusher, linebacker and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick172
Rnd5
Jack Bech
Jack Bech in pick 172 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick175
Rnd5
Marcus Mbow
They robbed the room for Marcus Mbow here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick185
Rnd6
Xavier Restrepo
Taking Xavier Restrepo in the Round 6 slot is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick234
Rnd7
Trey Amos
They will replay Trey Amos at No. 234 for years; that is how good the value is. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
