Draft Grade — Seahawks

The Seahawks land in the muddy middle: C+. You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Seahawks did exactly that with D'Angelo Ponds in No. 64. For now it grades a C+, with the swing picks left to settle the rest.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
Bottom line, the swing picks will decide whether this ages well.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Sonny Styles
In pick No. 32 they get the heartbeat of the defense, reach and all. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick64
Rnd2
D'Angelo Ponds
A swing that ignored the value entirely, D'Angelo Ponds well ahead of where he belonged. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick96
Rnd3
Logan Jones
Logan Jones at pick 96 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick213
Rnd6
Bud Clark
Bud Clark at the 213th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
