FutureF
The Griffin reach set the tone, and the Seahawks never recovered: F. The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Seahawks reached some 234 spots for Jam Griffin, and value like that does not grow back.
The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. It is a win-now wager, and the future is the stake. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
In the end, a class that has to defy its grades just to matter.
Pick Analysis
Pick5
Rnd1
Grey Zabel
In pick 5 they get a plug-and-play piece up front, a steep price for the projection. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick18
Rnd1
Nick Emmanwori
In the 18th pick they get an enforcer at safety at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Pick36
Rnd2
Elijah Arroyo
A big swing on Elijah Arroyo at the Round 2 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick50
Rnd2
Jalen Milroe
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jalen Milroe this early at No. 50. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick52
Rnd2
Rylie Mills
A wild overpay on Rylie Mills in slot 52, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick70
Rnd3
Tory Horton
They talked themselves into Tory Horton at the 70th overall pick, and the board did not agree. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick82
Rnd3
Damien Martinez
Damien Martinez at the Round 3 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It fills a real need, too.
Pick88
Rnd3
Zy Alexander
This one needs a full-page explanation: Zy Alexander in pick 88, miles early. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick92
Rnd3
Ricky White III
Value said wait; Ricky White III in No. 92 says they were not listening. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick107
Rnd4
Robbie Ouzts
Robbie Ouzts at slot 107 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick126
Rnd4
Kyle Williams
They took Kyle Williams at par in pick No. 126, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick137
Rnd4
Tyler Baron
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Tyler Baron well ahead of where he belonged. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick142
Rnd5
Shaun Dolac
Shaun Dolac in Round 5, Pick 4 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick172
Rnd5
Amari Kight
They reached into another round for Amari Kight, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick175
Rnd5
Jam Griffin
Jam Griffin at the 175th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick182
Rnd6
CJ West
They paid sticker price for CJ West in pick No. 182, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick194
Rnd6
Jackson Woodard
A real head-scratcher, Jackson Woodard in Round 6, Pick 18 is miles ahead of his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick221
Rnd7
Dante Trader Jr.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Dante Trader Jr.. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick223
Rnd7
Justin Walley
Justin Walley in the 223rd overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick234
Rnd7
Isas Waxter
They reached a country mile for Isas Waxter at No. 234, and the board is aghast. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick257
Rnd7
Jacob Dobbs
Jacob Dobbs at slot 257 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
