Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall C+
ValueB NeedB TradesD FutureC+
A mixed bag for the Seahawks, and a C+ to match.

There is conviction, and then there is this. The Seahawks took Brady Cook a full 60 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.

Landing Grant that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The Seahawks indulged a want in Moore while a need in edge rusher and tight end stayed open.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. The veteran additions, Trey Smith chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.

Hit on Luther Burden III and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.

Pick Analysis
Pick29 Rnd1 Luther Burden III
In pick 29 they get a go-to option on the outside at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick48 Rnd2 Malaki Starks
They will replay Malaki Starks at No. 48 for years; that is how good the value is. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick52 Rnd2 Kenneth Grant
Kenneth Grant in the Round 2 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick61 Rnd2 Carson Schwesinger
No drama and no debate, Carson Schwesinger went about where he belonged in the 61st overall pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick82 Rnd3 Shemar Turner
By-the-book stuff, Shemar Turner at slot 82 squarely in line with his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick128 Rnd4 Jonah Monheim
They reached into another round for Jonah Monheim, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick129 Rnd4 Nick Nash
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Nick Nash well ahead of where he belonged. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick136 Rnd4 Malachi Moore
A surprising call. With edge rusher and tight end still to address, they spent the Round 4 slot on Malachi Moore, a safety they were not short of.
Pick172 Rnd5 Bhayshul Tuten
Bhayshul Tuten at the 172nd pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick223 Rnd7 Brady Cook
A wild overpay on Brady Cook in Round 7, Pick 7, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
