Seahawks-FTW DRAFTING FOR THESeahawks

Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall

FutureB-
Flashes of a plan, unevenly run, for the Seahawks: C+. When the story of this class is written, it opens with Hayden Conner at pick No. 175, a reach of 93 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. The good and the questionable cancel out to a C+.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
So much rides on Tyler Booker that the real verdict is a season or two away.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Tyler Booker
In the Round 1 slot they get protection for the quarterback, a steep price for the projection. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick50
Rnd2
Xavier Watts
A clean, defensible pick in the 50th pick with a little surplus value in Xavier Watts. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick52
Rnd2
Deone Walker
Deone Walker at the 52nd overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick82
Rnd3
Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo in pick No. 82 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick92
Rnd3
Gunnar Helm
By-the-book stuff, Gunnar Helm at No. 92 squarely in line with his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick137
Rnd4
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Dont'e Thornton Jr. this early at slot 137. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick172
Rnd5
Jarquez Hunter
Jarquez Hunter at pick 172 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick175
Rnd5
Hayden Conner
Value said wait; Hayden Conner in slot 175 says they were not listening. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick223
Rnd7
Desmond Watson
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Desmond Watson. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick234
Rnd7
Garrett Dellinger
Garrett Dellinger at Round 7, Pick 18 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
