Seahawks-FTW DRAFTING FOR THESeahawks
Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
C+
ValueC-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
Flashes of a plan, unevenly run, for the Seahawks: C+. When the story of this class is written, it opens with D'Angelo Ponds at pick 64, a reach of 43 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. Call it a C+ and check back in two years.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Sonny Styles
In the 32nd overall pick they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick64
Rnd2
D'Angelo Ponds
A swing that ignored the value entirely, D'Angelo Ponds well ahead of where he belonged. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick96
Rnd3
Logan Jones
A real head-scratcher, Logan Jones in pick 96 is miles ahead of his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick213
Rnd6
Conner Weigman
Conner Weigman in slot 213 is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
