Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Leonard should have been long gone. The Seahawks pounced, and earned a B.

When a board-topper like Riley Leonard slides to No. 137, you do not overthink it, and the Seahawks did not. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Hudson reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 Matthew Golden
In pick No. 18 they get a true top target. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick50 Rnd2 Malaki Starks
Somehow Malaki Starks was still sitting there in Round 2, Pick 18, and they pounced on premier safety value. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick52 Rnd2 Jonah Savaiinaea
A tidy little value on Jonah Savaiinaea in pick 52, a step better than break-even. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick82 Rnd3 Darien Porter
Good price on Darien Porter in No. 82, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick92 Rnd3 Ozzy Trapilo
Ozzy Trapilo in slot 92 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick137 Rnd4 Riley Leonard
They will replay Riley Leonard at the Round 4 slot for years; that is how good the value is. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick172 Rnd5 Cobee Bryant
Cobee Bryant at the 172nd overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick175 Rnd5 Oronde Gadsden II
By-the-book stuff, Oronde Gadsden II at the 175th pick squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
Pick185 Rnd6 Kobe Hudson
A premium they did not need to pay, Kobe Hudson a notch or two before his time. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick234 Rnd7 Miles Frazier
They paid sticker price for Miles Frazier in the Round 7 slot, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
