FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Seahawks for Emmanwori: B. You build a draft on nights like this. Nick Emmanwori had no business being available in slot 50, and the Seahawks did the only sane thing and turned in the card. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Reaching for Simpkins III left real value on the table behind him.
Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Tetairoa McMillan
In pick 18 they get a difference-maker at receiver, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick50
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori at the 50th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick63
Rnd2
Demetrius Knight Jr.
A tidy little value on Demetrius Knight Jr. in No. 63, a step better than break-even. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick82
Rnd3
Elijah Arroyo
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Elijah Arroyo in the Round 3 slot. It fills a real need, too.
Pick92
Rnd3
Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson at Round 3, Pick 28 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick95
Rnd3
Jalen Milroe
Jalen Milroe at slot 95 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick137
Rnd4
Jacob Parrish
Taking Jacob Parrish in pick No. 137 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick172
Rnd5
RJ Harvey
A slide stopped in the 172nd overall pick, with RJ Harvey worth more than the price. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick175
Rnd5
Kyle Williams
Kyle Williams at Round 5, Pick 37 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick223
Rnd7
Jordan Hancock
Nice patience on Jordan Hancock, who had no business lasting to the Round 7 slot. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick234
Rnd7
Torricelli Simpkins III
They talked themselves into Torricelli Simpkins III at slot 234, and the board did not agree. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
