FutureB-
The Seahawks finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a A-. Somewhere a general manager is explaining how T.J. Sanders got past him. The Seahawks do not have to explain a thing at No. 235.
They have staked the next five years on Cam Ward, which is the only story that really matters here. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
In short, they turned a good board into a better roster, and it shows.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
Cam Ward
In pick No. 20 they get their guy under center for the next decade at a price that makes it sweeter.
Pick39
Rnd2
Armand Membou
They robbed the room for Armand Membou here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick41
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
A safety of that caliber at pick No. 41 is the definition of value, full stop. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick84
Rnd3
Jahdae Barron
Jahdae Barron in the 84th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick85
Rnd3
Grey Zabel
Circle this one: Grey Zabel at the Round 3 slot is a fall that decides a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick92
Rnd3
Ashton Jeanty
Ashton Jeanty at Round 3, Pick 28 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick121
Rnd4
Jihaad Campbell
Jihaad Campbell at No. 121 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick137
Rnd4
Wyatt Milum
They barely believed it either: Wyatt Milum still on the board at slot 137. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick157
Rnd5
Walter Nolen
Walter Nolen in pick 157 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick172
Rnd5
Jaxson Dart
Jaxson Dart at the 172nd pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick175
Rnd5
Josaiah Stewart
Taking Josaiah Stewart in No. 175 is close to grand larceny; an edge rusher that good had no business lasting this long. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick208
Rnd6
Tre Harris
You do not let a wide receiver like Tre Harris reach Round 6, Pick 32 and blink. They did not. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick223
Rnd7
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Dont'e Thornton Jr. in the Round 7 slot, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick234
Rnd7
Elijah Arroyo
Steal is underselling it; Elijah Arroyo at the 234th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick235
Rnd7
T.J. Sanders
Somehow T.J. Sanders was still sitting there in pick 235, and they pounced on premier interior defensive lineman value. It fills a real need, too.
