Sam637879 DRAFTING FOR THESeahawks

Draft Grade — Seahawks

Stout should have been long gone. The Seahawks pounced, and earned a B-. The rest of the league will want that one back. Upton Stout tumbling to the Seahawks in the 236th overall pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
The cost of the Ratledge reach is exactly the players who went right after him. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Mykel Williams
In the Round 1 slot they get a problem off the edge at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick50
Rnd2
Tate Ratledge
This one needs a full-page explanation: Tate Ratledge in the 50th overall pick, miles early. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick82
Rnd3
Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson at Round 3, Pick 18 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick137
Rnd4
Nick Nash
Nick Nash at pick 137 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick173
Rnd5
Jabbar Muhammad
They will replay Jabbar Muhammad at No. 173 for years; that is how good the value is. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick187
Rnd6
Karene Reid
They took Karene Reid at par in slot 187, which is nothing to complain about. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick212
Rnd6
Seth McLaughlin
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Seth McLaughlin. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick236
Rnd7
Upton Stout
The board fumbled Upton Stout all the way to pick No. 236, and they scooped it up. A minor itch, scratched.
