FutureB-
The Seahawks let Winston Jr. fall into their laps, and walked away with a B-. Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Kevin Winston Jr. got past him. The Seahawks do not have to explain a thing at the Round 6 slot. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
They will need McLeod to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Jalon Walker
In the 31st pick they get the heartbeat of the defense at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick39
Rnd2
Jaxson Dart
A real head-scratcher, Jaxson Dart in the 39th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick63
Rnd2
Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson in pick No. 63 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick82
Rnd3
Tez Johnson
They went early on Tez Johnson in slot 82, and the value did not follow. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick132
Rnd4
Jalen McLeod
Jalen McLeod in No. 132 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick137
Rnd4
Jonah Monheim
A reach for Jonah Monheim in Round 4, Pick 36; a little patience would have been rewarded. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick173
Rnd5
Oronde Gadsden II
Oronde Gadsden II at the Round 5 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick187
Rnd6
Kevin Winston Jr.
They will replay Kevin Winston Jr. at pick 187 for years; that is how good the value is. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick212
Rnd6
Alijah Huzzie
Alijah Huzzie in pick 212 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick236
Rnd7
DJ Campbell
DJ Campbell at No. 236 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
