Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesB FutureB-
Sawyer should have been long gone. The Seahawks pounced, and earned a B.

The board owed the Seahawks one, and it paid up: Jack Sawyer, the No. 28 name on the board, sitting there at Round 3, Pick 21 like a gift left on the doorstep.

The cost of the Igbinosun reach is exactly the players who went right after him. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Harold Fannin Jr.
In Round 1, Pick 31 they get a mismatch in the passing game at a price that makes it sweeter.
Pick52 Rnd2 Tate Ratledge
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Tate Ratledge in slot 52, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick63 Rnd2 Malaki Starks
Somehow Malaki Starks was still sitting there in pick 63, and they pounced on premier safety value. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick85 Rnd3 Jack Sawyer
Jack Sawyer at the 85th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick136 Rnd4 Lander Barton
Lander Barton at the Round 4 slot is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick173 Rnd5 Davison Igbinosun
A wild overpay on Davison Igbinosun in the 173rd overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick185 Rnd6 Donovan Jackson
The board had Donovan Jackson higher than pick No. 185, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick210 Rnd6 Bryce Foster
Bryce Foster at No. 210 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick237 Rnd7 Julian Fleming
A big swing on Julian Fleming at the Round 7 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
