Truckley45 DRAFTING FOR THESeahawks
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
Mateer is the plan now, and the Seahawks grade out a B-. The search is over. The Seahawks handed the keys to John Mateer, and the whole operation now runs on his development. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
They will need Royer to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Linebacker is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick23
Rnd1
John Mateer
In the Round 1 slot they get their quarterback of the future. A real need, handled.
Pick54
Rnd2
Arvell Reese
Arvell Reese at the 54th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick85
Rnd3
Joe Royer
Joe Royer in the 85th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick120
Rnd4
DJ McKinney
DJ McKinney at slot 120 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick158
Rnd5
Isaac Smith
By-the-book stuff, Isaac Smith at No. 158 squarely in line with his ranking. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick187
Rnd6
Le'Veon Moss
Le'Veon Moss in pick No. 187 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
